The iconic Dayton Art Institute, now on the hill overlooking the Miami River, was originally located at the corner of Monument Avenue and St. Clair Street in downtown Dayton in February 1919 when it was founded. One-hundred years later in October, 2019, Brixilated was invited to help DAI goers and community members celebrate in the best way we know how: with LEGO®. With over 27,000 pieces and 468 individual sections, it’s nearly a miracle this mosaic was built in under five hours! Once completed, the mosaic was released into the community and lived at the Dayton Metro Library so those who built it could see it displayed. What an honor to bring our special art experience into such an important community asset like the Dayton Art Institute!
